We have a number of volunteer opportunities available this year.Some of them are listed below but we are also interested in hearing your thoughts on how we could best use your talents.Last year we reached almost 4,000 volunteer hours.We can achieve and surpass this level again this year!Thank you for your support of the school and all of your help in making the school a success.
Classroom Volunteers:Classroom volunteers do not have to have teaching experience.We are looking for volunteers who can come in on a regular basis to meet with individual or groups of students.We are also looking for classroom experts who might be interested in sharing their knowledge of a specific topic with the class.
Fitness:SCS classroom teachers currently fulfill the need for weekly physical education classes; we look to parent volunteers to assist, organize and/run fitness classes, which may include specific sports/ activities units.
Room Parents: A parent/s of a student in that class, who will act as liaison between the teacher and other class parents. He/she will help to organize field trips, celebrations and other parent volunteer efforts for events for that class
School Council:Review and develop plans, processes and procedures based on school’s needs.
Act as advisory and meditative body when issues arise between staff, board and SCSP.Provide minutes of meetings to staff, board, and the Seacoast Parents Group.
Lunch servers:Help serve lunch to the students each day. This requires a regular schedule of at least one lunch time per week.We are still looking for someone to help with Monday.
Newsletter Writer/Editor:This person works closely with the Head of School to write, assemble and format the monthly newsletter. This requires some level of facility in word processing and writing.
Outreach Committee:{membership: Board & Parents} The Outreach Committee will be responsible for sharing Seacoast Charter School with the broader community.This will include increasing Spotlight Attendance, business outreach, and marketing.
Charge: The Accountability Committee will work with the Head of School to assess how well the school is accomplishing its mission and fulfilling the charter.With the Head of School, the committee will create and manage the state accountability plan and review and oversee its implementation.The committee will review student work, make classroom visits, and review the longitudinal growth of the student body over time.This work will not include evaluation of either individual students or teachers.
Facilities Committee:{membership: Board & Parents} Charge: Works closely with the Head of School to oversee the operation and maintenance of the school facility.This includes, but is not limited to, serving as the liaison between the school and landlord where applicable; developing and implementing plans for long term or permanent facility.
Hospitality/Facilities Volunteers:
Welcome Wagon:Be there to answer questions for new families coming to SCS.
Green Committee: This committee will work to develop and implement environmentally respectful policies within SCS, with a particular emphasis on reducing and reusing resources.
Housekeeping/Fix-it Committee:We have an excellent new cleaning company this year, who does all of the daily cleaning.We are looking for help making the school look even more wonderful.This includes some basic maintenance tasks as well.
Data Entry:We are looking for someone to help with data entry.
