Homework
NO MORE HOMEWORK!!!!! YAY FOR ALL OF US :) HAPPY WEEKEND!
SAVE THE DATES: June 10th we will take a field trip to Newcastle Commons to see the Gundalow, Fort Constitution, and the park. June 11th we will have a Poetry Tea which you are all invited to attend. It will be at 2pm.
MATH: All week, we have been working on our assessments. The end-of-year assessment is quite long, but once it's done, the kids will really enjoy seeing the progress they have made since the beginning of the year. I made sure to make today a "game" day since they'd been working on their assessments for three days. We will finish it up early next week, then have the rest of the week and the last week to do a fun quilt project.
READING & WRITING: This week, the students worked on a writing assessment - something they also did in September and January. I gave the students a picture prompt - a picture from the book "The Little Lamb", and they had to create a story about the picture, with a beginning, middle, and end, an interesting lead, and an exploding/exciting moment. They are all ready to work on the final draft now, and some students have finished. Meanwhile, I have been doing the end of year reading assessments as well. I love seeing the progress everyone has made!
SCIENCE: Unfortunately, there was not much time for science this week. We usually have it on Monday, and we didn't have school. On Tuesday, we did have a quick science lesson which the class really enjoyed. We then had to leave to see the dress rehearsal of the Shakespeare play.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Lots more discussion about the constitution! The class has lots of interesting questions and comments having to do with their constitutional rights.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to Cindy Wellington, who make 22 beautiful pouches that fit over the kids' chairs, and are so fashionable!!! It was a LOT of work, so thank you very much.
